The California Women’s Law Center held our 2023 Pursuit of Justice Awards lunch where we proudly recognized University of California Chancellor’s Professor Dr. Michele Goodwin and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Kim Phuc Phan Thi for their perseverance and impact as advocates for women and girls around the world.
We commend Michele for revolutionizing the bioethics field through legal scholarship and her book Policing the Womb; and we applaud Kim for sharing her story with us as well as for her commitment to assist children impacted by violence through The KIM Foundation International. Should you be interested in reading the full story of Kim’s life, please read her book Fire Road: The Napalm Girl’s Journey.
CWLC is also grateful to Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Nick Ut for joining us to give his personal account of the story behind the famous picture. Nick’s biography, From Hell to Hollywood, documents his personal journey and his experience capturing the Vietnam War.
