Dear Supporter,
On Veterans Day, the California Women’s Law Center is proud to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of our service members. CWLC is committed to advocating on behalf of our veterans, with a strong focus on serving the rapidly increasing number of female veterans.
The number of women serving in the military has doubled in the last decade. Women veterans continue to face unique obstacles in accessing government guaranteed health benefits and services and at least a quarter of women veterans report experiencing Military Sexual Trauma (MST) during their service. MST can result in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and other mental and physical health issues. Female veterans are twice as likely to develop PTSD than male veterans, in part because they are 25 times more likely to have suffered MST than their male counterparts.
CWLC thanks our veterans for their service to our country. Today and every day, we honor those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.
