Today, September 25, is National Women’s Health and Fitness Day, and more than 500 groups across the country will encourage women to be healthy by hosting events at senior centers, hospitals, health clubs, park and recreation centers, schools, and other community locations.
You can join an event near you, or participate on your own by taking a walk, dancing, surfing, or doing yoga. Over 50,000 women of all ages are expected to participate in this year’s event.
CWLC has a long history of advocating for women’s ability to lead healthy, purposeful, and safe lives. Too many women face barriers to doing so: financial hardship due to pay inequality or housing insecurity, domestic violence, harassment on school campuses, and reduced access to family services all make it more challenging for women to thrive. CWLC protects reproductive rights, enforces Title IX requirements, offers free renters’ rights workshops to help women avoid homelessness, and produces legal guides for women seeking restraining orders from abusive partners.
Thank you for joining us in these efforts today and every day.
