Title X, the national family planning program which was signed into law by President Nixon in 1970, provides millions of low-income women with access to birth control, cancer screenings, and STI testing and treatment. Despite the face that Title X does not fund abortion services, in 2018 the Trump administration proposed changes to the program which would effectively “gag,” or prohibit, health care providers from even referring women for abortion services. CWLC has opposed the proposed rule changes at every step.
However, after years of court battles, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling last month that allows these regulations to stand.
With these rules now in effect, join CWLC’s Senior Staff Attorney, Amy Poyer, on a webinar to learn how the new regulations impact reproductive health care access. We will also discuss the next steps of legal action being taken to fight these harmful, unconstitutional rules.
