UCLA’s Health Policy Report: Senior Rent Burden (2018)
UCLA’s Center for Health Policy Research released the below Health Policy Report in August 2018 regarding the rent burden on low-income older Californian tenants.

These briefs were filed in the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, multiple federal District and Circuit courts, and even the United States Supreme Court. The issues addressed by the briefs included Title IX campus sexual assault and cyber harassment, women’s reproductive health, domestic violence, LGBTQ employment discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, and transgender veterans.
California Financial Security: Dreaming or Struggling AARP Survey (2017)
This statewide survey of 800 California adults age 36-70 who are in the workforce finds that some Californians are living the dream, but many are struggling.
Fact Sheet – Asking for Salary History Perpetuates Pay Discrimination from Job to Job (2017)
The National Women’s Law Center released a fact sheet in June 2017 highlighting how Asking for Salary History Perpetuates Pay Discrimination from Job to Job.

May is National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month. During this month, we recognize the progress that has been made to decrease rates of teen pregnancy across the nation as well as the challenges that remain. National Equal Pay Day 2017
Today is National Equal Pay Day, recognized this year on April 4th which represents how far into the new year women on average must work to earn what men did the previous year. Overcoming the wage gap is difficult for all women but particularly for the vast majority of women of color.

CWLC supports Senate Bill 282, introduced by Senator Wiener, which would increase access to prepared food for low income, homeless, elderly and disabled Californians, and will create job opportunities for childless homeless adults. International Women’s Day – March 8, 2017
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a collective day of global celebration but also a call for gender parity. IWD honors the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world. But the unfortunate fact is that women are still not paid equally to their male counterparts, women are still not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women’s education, health and physical safety are threatened every day.
Asian American Women Equal Pay Day
Today is Asian American Women’s Equal Pay Day, which means Asian American women’s salaries are just catching up to what white men made in 2016. Compared to their white male counterparts, Asian American women working full time typically are only paid 85 cents for every dollar paid to white men.
CWLC Celebrates Women’s History Month
March is a month of reflection and appreciation for women, but it is also a month of action. Please join us as we celebrate the gains women have made since our country was founded and know that CWLC will be on the frontlines to stop any attempt to force women backward or diminish our possibilities. Together, we will be successful in our mission to ensure the future is bright and full of opportunity for every woman and every girl in the nation.

The California Women’s Law Center hosted a Distinguished Guest Speaker Series with Erwin Chemerinksy and Michele Goodwin of UCI School of Law on February 22, 2017 at the Feminist Majority Foundation in Beverly Hills.
