On this Veterans Day, it is with deep gratitude that CWLC recognizes those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
American women have volunteered to serve on the frontlines of battle for centuries. Some, like Deborah Sampson who was later recognized at the White House by President George Washington for her service, disguised themselves as men to be able to participate in our nation’s conflicts.
Today, women make up 20% of the Air Force, 19% of the Navy, 15% of the Army, nearly 9% of the Marine Corps, and comprise 10% of the total veteran population.
CWLC remains a committed advocate for female veterans and their needs by helping them access their benefits, supporting efforts to address their health care needs, and working to secure a safe housing environment for all veterans, including for women who suffer from post-traumatic stress as a result of experiencing military sexual trauma (MST).
Veterans Day provides an opportunity to share our gratitude and support for those who have served and sacrificed for our country. Please join CWLC today and every day in recognizing the brave and committed people who have served and continue to serve this nation. Thank you.
