The devastating effects of the multiple fires raging through Southern California this week cannot be overstated.  We at CWLC are sending our deepest, sincerest sympathies to those impacted.  It is during such calamitous times that we must come together to support and aid our communities, neighbors, friends, and families.  

Whether you are looking for immediate aid or help with concerns farther down the line, CWLC has gathered a wide range of information to answer your questions and help you find what you need.

Health and Mental Health Resources/Crisis Counseling

  • You can get immediate crisis counseling and support through SAMHSA’s Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH), the first national hotline dedicated to providing year-round disaster crisis counseling. This toll-free, multilingual, crisis support service is available to all residents in the US and its territories. Call or text 1-800-985-5990.

  • Discounted or Free Lodging:
    • The Hotel Assn. of Los Angeles has complied a list of hotels in the Los Angeles area that have room availability and special rates for individuals who have been displaced by the fires (that continues to be updated).
    • City of Anaheim complied an online list of hotels within the city that are offering discounted rates for those displaced by the fire.

Legal Information 

  • California Department of Insurance: If you have been affected by the wild fires you can contact the California Department of Insurance with your insurance questions at 800-927-4357 or www.insurance.ca.gov     
  • LA County Assessor: “Misfortune and Calamity” Property Tax Relief- Property damaged or destroyed by windstorms or wildfires may qualify for temporary property tax relief through the Misfortune and Calamity program.  For more information and to download the claim form (ADS-820), visit www.assessor.lacounty.gov/tax-relief/disaster-relief or call (213) 974-3211.

Volunteer Opportunities 

  • L.A. Dream Center: Pass out donations, direct traffic, sort clothes, prep meals. They are also accepting donations. https://www.dreamcenter.org/
  • Pasadena Community Job Center: Help receive items, sort and distribute goods. They are also accepting donations. Starting Friday, jan. 10 at 4 p.m. Call the center to find out specific needs at (626) 440-0112 http://pasadenajobcenter.com/

Where to Donate 

  • GoFundMe has centralized all fundraisers related to the wildfires into a single California Wildfire Relief Fund that will be distributed to people seeking help through GoFundMe fundraisers and nonprofits providing relief.

  • LA Regional Food Bank: Food assistance after fires, earthquakes, and other disasters. They are accepting food donations between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8am-3pm on Saturday at its two distribution centers in Vernon (1734 East 41st Street, Los Angeles, California 90058) and Industry (2300 Pellissier Place, Industry, California 90601). They are also accepting donations at Villains Brewing (555 S Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92805), Broken Spirits Distillery (300 The Promenade N, Long Beach, CA 90802), and Smoke & Fire Social Eatery (1327 W Whittier Blvd, La Habra, CA 90631).   • Pasadena Humane: Serves as a critical lifeline for pets impacted by the Eaton Fire, and every evacuated area in the Eaton Fire currently falls within their service area. They provide emergency response on the ground providing lifesaving assistance for injured animals or evacuation. They are in need of monetary donations through this link give.pasadenahumane.org/fire
  • Extensive List of Families who are reporting they have been impacted by the fires and requesting mutual aid and assistance through GoFundme pages or direct payment. This document was community created (NOTE: Author of this document is unknown to CWLC as it remains mostly crowd sourced. CWLC has not vetted this list. Please utilize and donate at your own discretion.)

  • Guidestone Church – 730 11th Street Hermosa Beach, CA 90254 – can only accept NEW clothing, since shelters are turning used clothing away. Also need hygiene products.

  • Tanaka Farms – 5380 3/4 University Dr. Irvine, CA 92612 – Tanaka Farms and LA Mission have partnered for a donation drive on Saturday, January 11 from 9:30am-5pm.
